Restoring Stability to Your Life

Social Security Disability benefits are a lifesaver when you can’t work because of severe medical conditions.

With disability income coming in, you worry less about putting food on the table, keeping a roof over your head, paying your medical bills and just getting through another day. And you focus more on yourself and your own well-being.

But the Social Security Administration (SSA) doesn’t make it easy to get approved. They have an entire separate legal system for deciding who wins benefits.

Most people get denied when they first apply and must appeal the decision.

This massive government program is like a giant maze, but there’s a California disability attorney who has dedicated her career to helping you through this process—Angelina Valle.

She’s been helping people win disability benefits in San Jose, Salinas and surrounding areas for over 35 years. You want a local disability lawyer with that kind of experience, one that focuses on the disability system.

At Angelina Valle & Associates, Social Security Disability is all we do.

Finding the Right Type of Disability Benefit for You

The SSA runs two different disability programs. Which one you apply for depends on your work history and financial situation.

These are the two options:

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

You’re covered by Social Security Disability Insurance if you worked and paid into the Social Security system for a substantial amount of time.

This isn’t a government handout. It’s a benefit you earned by working. You deserve to get this help when you need it. Its whole purpose is to help you when you’re forced out of work by serious health problems before you’re ready to retire.

The size of your monthly checks under SSDI depends on how much you made in your job, but you should know that it doesn’t fully replace your income.

Qualifying for SSDI also allows you to qualify for Medicare health care coverage, even when you’re not retirement age. When you’re dealing with medical impairments, that health coverage is crucial.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Supplemental Security Income was created to help people who haven’t been able to work or earn much because of their disabilities. If your income and resources fall below certain levels, you can qualify for SSI.

Children with disabilities can receive SSI benefits and continue into adulthood if they can’t work.

Adults can receive SSI benefits if they’ve never been able to work a substantial amount, or haven’t worked in several years due to health problems.

The monthly checks under SSI come in set amounts determined by the government. Qualifying for SSI also qualifies you for Medi-Cal health care coverage, which is California’s Medicaid program.

Angelina Valle & Associates can help you determine your best option for Social Security Disability, at no cost to you.

Getting a California Social Security Disability Lawyer Who Cares About You

Your health problems are enough of a struggle. Add in dealing with the Social Security Disability system and it feels overwhelming. The last thing you need is a lawyer who’s difficult to work with, too.

You need a lawyer who takes the time to understand what you’re going through.

That’s Angelina Valle. She knows what it’s like to struggle.

Angelina grew up in a family with financial hardships. Her father died when she was just 4 years old.

Her widowed mother supported their family by working as a seamstress in a sweat shop, eventually developing lower back pain that made her stop working. But her mother’s hard work provided a solid education for Angelina.

Angelina’s mother inspired her to practice an area of law that helps others in need. And in addition to becoming a lawyer, Angelina became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, giving her a great understanding of the needs of people with physical and mental health disorders.

It’s rare to find a lawyer with this combination of training and 35 years of experience in Social Security Disability law.
