Social security disability
When you worked, you paid into the Social Security system through taxes in every one of your paychecks. Because you paid into the Social Security Disability system, you are eligible to apply for disability benefits.
Supplemental security income
SSI is a federal program designed to pay monthly benefits to you if you’re disabled, blind or over the age of 65 and have limited income and resources. Children with disabilities may also qualify for SSI.
